Big Day at the Plate for Alonso Not Enough
Las Vegas left fielder José Alonso had a terrific game. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 4 runs and drove in 3, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Capital District beat the Flamingos, 9-8. Alonso was named the player of the game despite the loss. Capital District reliever Luis Hernández was the winner. His record is now 5-2. Ron Yarbrough took the loss. Miguel Toro was credited with the save for Capital District, his 26th of the season.

The most critical at-bat came in the top of the ninth inning. With two out, Chris Costa hit a 1-0 cutter from Jim Washington for a run-scoring single. It put Capital District in front, 9-8.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Costa, "but we got it done."

The Red Knights' win now puts them at 62-42.
