Nuggets Get Past Greenville for 10-8 Win
|
The Greenville 84s got a superb performance from first baseman Al Anderson. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Rocky Mountain. The Nuggets won the game, 10-8. In spite of the loss, Anderson was named the player of the game. He was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The winner was Rocky Mountain reliever Félix Jiménez, now 9-4. The loser was Colijn de Goedere. With the victory, the Nuggets record now stands at 58-44.
Had it not been for Juan Ríos, the results might have been different. In the top of the eighth inning, when the Nuggets were trailing 7-5, Ríos hit a bases-clearing triple for Rocky Mountain, giving his team the lead.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Rocky Mountain Nuggets manager Matt Hunt. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
