Dodgers Deal Evergreens Painful Loss
|
Benefiting from the performance of Avon Barksdale, the Brooklyn Dodgers defeated the Portland Evergreens, 5-4. Barksdale went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Dodgers. The third-place Evergreens have lost 7 straight games.
When he came to bat in the bottom of the ninth, Vincent Crane had a chance to end it. Portland pitcher Vincente Ortíz had other ideas. But with no outs, Crane hit a walk-off run-scoring single. The Dodgers had the walk-off win.
"We bring energy to every game," said losing manager Imran Baig. "But it's got to translate into wins."
