Mario Rivera made an impact in the 4-2 New Amsterdam win over Montana. Rivera, who is the 6th-best prospect in the Republics organization, went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs. Getting the save was Ron Madison, his 23rd. The 7th-place Republics improved to 52-47.

New Amsterdam grabbed control in the top of the sixth. With two out and a runner on 1st, John Burton delivered a 2-run home run, to make it 3-1 in favor of the Republics.

"The beers will taste better tonight after this win," said the ever-candid Burton.
