The New Amsterdam Republics went home winners at Dutch Master Park, thanks in large part to starter Bobby Swain. Swain silenced the Chicago Hawks, enabling New Amsterdam to grab the 3-1 win. Ron Madison got credit for the save for New Amsterdam. It was his 22nd of the year. The Republics sit in 7th place in the Division III with a record of 50-45.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the fifth, with the game tied, Félix López was at the plate when New Amsterdam scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Republics to go in front, 2-1.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Anthony Yaghmour.
