Chicago got a terrific game from center fielder Roberto Veliz. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Montana, 5-4. Veliz was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Enrique Cortéz earned the win to go to 3-4. He allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits, with 5 walks and 3 strikeouts. Montana goes to 57-35. The win puts them 2 games up in their division.
Also producing for Montana was second baseman Riley Howard, who stroked a single in the top of the fourth. For the game, Howard was 1 for 4.
