Red Knights Raise Rally Flag, Beat Portland, 4-3
|
Capital District beat Portland at Capital Grounds, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Leroy Moody, who earned player of the game honors. Miguel Toro picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-1. Ronaldo Rey was tagged with the loss. The Evergreens, now 31-54, have lost 7 straight.
When he came to bat in the bottom of the ninth, José Paz had a chance to end it. Portland pitcher William Waters had other ideas. But with two outs, Paz reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run. The Red Knights had the walk-off win.
"We missed opportunities once again," said losing manager Imran Baig.
