The Las Vegas Flamingos topped the New Amsterdam Republics, 8-4, with Roberto Salazar playing a big role. Salazar went 4 for 4 with 4 singles, while scoring 3 times for the Flamingos in the win. Melvin Haney, credited with the win, is now 7-4. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in 6.1 innings. Las Vegas now sits in 4th place in the Division III at 43-31.
José Alonso in the bottom of the fifth had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and the Flamingos leading 3-2, the Las Vegas left fielder got hit by a pitch, driving in 1 run.
Salazar told a reporter after responding to autograph requests: "The team always comes first, so pulling out the win on a day like today is the most important thing. Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
