Evergreens Beat Hawks, 5-2
|
Portland beat Chicago at Hawks Ballpark, escaping with a 5-2 win. The win in large part was due to left fielder Darrell Terwey, who earned player of the game honors. He went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Vincente Ortíz got the save, the 12th for him this season. The Evergreens are now 28-45, while the Hawks fall to 19-54.
Terwey came through with some timely hitting for Portland. With the score 3-1 in the top of the sixth and two down, Terwey hit a 1-1 fastball for a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season -- and a big reason the Evergreens managed to win.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Terwey. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
