In a low-scoring contest between the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Philadelphia 1776 BC, pitcher Scott Woodger was excellent. The Brooklyn right-hander was named the player of the game in Brooklyn's 2-0 win. Brooklyn is 39-32 and Philadelphia 1776, with the loss, 37-34.
Brooklyn took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Avon Barksdale hit a clutch solo home run to bring Dodgers fans to their feet.
