Cashmore Hits 2 home runs in Gold Sox Win
|
Behind a solid performance from first baseman Joe Cashmore, the Chicago Gold Sox defeated the New Amsterdam Republics, 7-0. Cashmore belted 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4 for the Gold Sox. Raúl Areola picked up the win, improving his season record to 7-5. He struck out 8 in 8 innings. The first-place Gold Sox now have a win-loss record of 43-25.
With Chicago leading 2-0 in the bottom of the third, Cashmore hit a cutter from Bobby Swain for a 2-run home run. It was his 18th home run of the season and put the Gold Sox ahead, 4-0.
Cashmore called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
