Victory Pushes Republics Record to 35-32
|
The New Amsterdam Republics picked up a win at Dutch Master Park, knocking off the Chicago Gold Sox, 2-1. Starting pitcher António Hernández played a key role in the triumph. Hernández went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 7-4. Ron Madison converted his 17th save in 19 tries.
New Amsterdam took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Hank Wilder hit a clutch solo home run to bring Republics fans to their feet.
Said New Amsterdam manager Sal Gaudio: "I tell our guys all the time: 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction.'"
The Republics bumped their record to 35-32 with this latest triumph.
