5-Hit Blitz by Philadelphia 1776's Aldridge
|
5 hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game, and you get your moment of glory, your fifteen minutes of fame -- you get your name in the record book. In the BC 4-1 win over Capital District, Cliff Aldridge was red-hot today, scorching them for hit after hit at Capital Grounds.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got a little tight when I realized I had a chance for a 5-hit game. On the last at-bat, I was ready to swing at anything close."
On his big day Aldridge delivered 5 hits in 9 at-bats. Cliff Aldridge singled in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, flied out in the 8th, doubled in the 11th, doubled in the 13th, singled in the 15th, flied out in the 17th and hit an RBI single in the 18th.
Thus far this year Aldridge has hit .277 with 5 home runs and 29 RBIs.
