Cashmore Hits 2 home runs in Gold Sox Win
|
The Chicago Gold Sox defeated the Capital District Red Knights, 4-0. Earning player of the game honors was first baseman Joe Cashmore, who was 3-3 with 2 home runs. Raúl Areola got the win, improving to 5-5. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 5 hits and no runs, while striking out 5 and walking 3. The Chicago Gold Sox have an impressive 37-21 record.
Chicago grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Cashmore, who is tied for 4th in the 3L in home runs with 16, hit a solo home run. His 16th home run put the Gold Sox out in front, 1-0.
Cashmore told the Chicago News: "This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents. Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
