It was a good time at 84s Field, where fans came to watch the Portland Evergreens and Greenville 84s get after it.

Greenville 84s starter Gary Barber was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Portland Evergreens, 4-2. Barber picked up the win for Greenville, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1.

In the bottom of the 5th, the 84s grabbed the lead when Rodrigo Lugo rapped a two-out home run. Greenville was trailing 2-1, when Lugo hit a 3-run home run off Austin Stewart to put his team in front, 4-2.

"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Barber. "Successful pitchers do it."

Greenville goes to 24-33, Portland to 23-34.
