Evergreens Get 3-2 Win Versus Kingston Township
|
Portland beat Kingston Township on the strength of starter Leroy Picot's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 3-2 win. Picot picked up the win for Portland, going 7.2 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 2-5. Vincente Ortíz earned the save for Portland, his 8th.
Roland Deschain had a big run-scoring single for the Evergreens in the top of the seventh inning. With Portland leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a forkball from Jon Briddon and stroked the single to center. It was his 52nd hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Evergreens ahead, 3-0.
"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Picot.
With the win, the Evergreens improved to 17-31.
