Evergreens Go Down to Defeat, 13-4
|
Portland got a terrific performance from pitcher Jesús Medina, but it wasn't enough to beat the Chicago Gold Sox. Chicago won the Evergreen Park contest, 13-4. Medina was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He came in in relief and pitched to 22 batters . Javier Dávila was the winning pitcher. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts. The Evergreens, now 16-27, have lost 4 straight.
Rod Jones also delivered for the Gold Sox. The veteran shortstop belted a 3-run home run in the top of the third. The longball put Chicago on top, 9-0. Overall, Jones went 1 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Jones.
