Blair Goes Off, But Flyers Win
|
Tortolita got a terrific performance from center fielder Stephen Blair, but it wasn't enough to beat the Pennsauken Flyers. Pennsauken won the Drummers Ballpark contest, 8-7. Blair was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Pennsauken reliever Martin Ortíz picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Gustavo Pérez took the loss. Pennsauken, now 32-32, holds 7th place in the Silver AAA.
Also doing his part was first baseman Byron Isaacson, who stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the third for Pennsauken. For the game, Isaacson was 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times.
In postgame comments to the Pennsauken Citizen, Isaacson said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
