Hotspur Reserves Win in Glorious Fashion
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters got a sterling performance from pitcher Wilson Vélez, but the Hotspur Reserves still prevailed, 4-3. Vélez was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 5 innings of 2-hit ball. Phoenix has an impressive 37-18 record.
Luis Díaz was the walk-off hero for Phoenix. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, the Phoenix shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Díaz said.
