BC Suffer 10-2 Setback
The Vermont Lake Monsters did just enough to secure a 10-2 victory over the Houston BC at Monster Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Roberto Cantú, who captured player of the game honors. Cantú was the winning pitcher and moves to 2-0. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 4 walks. Jim Unknown earned the save, his 1st, for the Lake Monsters.

In the bottom of the 4th, the Lake Monsters grabbed the lead on a two-out single by Zelmar Barajas. Vermont at the time was trailing 2-1, but Barajas's 2-run single off Mark Collingwood put his team in front.

"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Houston manager Willis Crawford. "We got flat-out beat."

Vermont now has a 3-game win streak.
