Detroit Renaissance starter Cris Mendoza turned in a sterling performance against the Richardson City Thundercats, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. The win was credited to Jack Carr in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Manuel Franco took the loss. The Renaissance move to 23-31 with the win, while the Thundercats drop to 34-20.
Ulbert Sutkamp was the walk-off hero for Detroit. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, the Detroit second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"This place was electric at the end," Sutkamp said.
