Drummers Stick Lake Monsters with 8-5 Loss
|
The Tortolita Drummers grabbed a 8-5 win over the Vermont Lake Monsters at Monster Field. Tortolita catcher Blair Sweeny went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times to earn player of the game honors. Javier Hernández locked down his 2nd save. The Drummers saw their record improve to 22-17.
In the top of the seventh, Tortolita shortstop Jesús Martínez had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and no outs, Martínez stroked a bases-clearing double to left. It made the score 7-4, Tortolita. For the game, he went 2-5 with a double, while adding 3 RBI.
"We came out aggressive," said Tortolita Drummers manager Juan López. "We came out swinging the bats."
