Timber Hawks Continue Skid, Thanks to Widdop, Flyers
|
The Pennsauken Flyers and Augusta Timber Hawks obliged those fans who came to Timber Hawks Ballpark looking for a good time.
The Pennsauken Flyers downed the Augusta Timber Hawks, 8-4, at Timber Hawks Ballpark. The Flyers were led by Jonathan Widdop, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Augusto Ramos earned the win for Pennsauken. He lasted 5.2 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 2-0. Dan Drew recorded his 1st save for Pennsauken.
Widdop had a game-changing home run in the top of the fifth. On a 1-0 fastball from Esteban Marino, he banged a 3-run home run to right-center, giving the Flyers a 5-3 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Widdop.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Widdop.
Augusta is trying to get off the schneid, having lost 6 in a row.
