Sun Caps Hang 6-5 Loss on Lake Monsters
|
The Jersey City Sun Caps defeated the Vermont Lake Monsters, 6-5, at Monster Field. Jersey City first baseman Qi-zhen Loong was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Chris Sommer picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-1. He struck out 4 in 5.1 innings. Oliver Huerta earned the save for Jersey City, his 5th of the year.
Loong contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Jersey City in the top of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Loong took a cutter from Ted Thompson and stroked the home run to right. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Sun Caps to leap in front, 3-1.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Jersey City manager Rich Harris.
Jersey City has now won 4 games in a row.
