Drummers Stick Flyers with 5-3 Loss
|
Tortolita beat Pennsauken, 5-3. The win in part was due to shortstop Jesús Martínez, who nabbed player of the game honors. He was 3-4 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Tortolita reliever Luis Cardona got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Dan Drew was tagged with the loss. Mike Desmond earned the save, his 5th, for the Drummers.
Tortolita took control in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Jorge Rosa hit a run-scoring single to make it 4-3, Drummers.
In comments to the Tortolita Observer, Rosa insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
The loss drops Pennsauken to 11-6.
