Halberds Walk It Off for 11th Win of Season
|
The Alloway Halberds faced a tough opponent in Jersey City pitcher Chris Sommer, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Ballpark of Alloway by a final score of 4-3. Sommer went 6.2 innings and allowed 1 earned run. The win was credited to Jim Unknown in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Darren Garland took the loss. The Alloway Halberds, now 11-4, have been on a roll in the early going.
Juan Salinas had the critical at-bat for Alloway. With two out in the bottom of the ninth inning, he reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run. It gave Alloway the 4-3 walk-off win.
"It's great when the crowd gets into it," Salinas said.
