Fighting Dachsunds Win at Vermont, 5-2
The Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds topped the Vermont Lake Monsters, 5-2, in USSL Triple A action at Monster Field. The player of the game was Ellenburg pitcher and San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic native Cristo Rodríguez. The winning pitcher was Rodríguez, now 1-3. He tossed 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. Sean Evans picked up the save for Ellenburg, his 3rd of the year.

Ramiro Rico didn't waste any time giving his team the lead. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a 2-run double to put Ellenburg on top, 2-0.

Vermont manager Mike Cunningham said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.

With the loss, Vermont sinks to 6-7.
