Houston BC starter Mike Owens turned in a top-notch performance against the Jersey City Sun Caps at Jersey City Grounds. The result was a win for the BC, 5-0. Owens went 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. His record improves to 1-0. Earning his 1st save of the year was Shawn Arnold.

The BC beat the Sun Caps in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the double Álex Ramírez produced in the top of the fourth. Batting against Jersey City pitcher Chris Sommer, he gave his team a 1-0 lead when he hit a run-scoring double.

"I thought we played a nice game," Owens told the Houston News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."

The Houston BC, now 7-2, have been on a roll in the early going.
