The Bakersfield Nobles put the giddy home crowd in an even more jubilant mood after beating the Milton Dogfish Head in the season opener at Jerome Grounds. Third Baseman Lloyd Alberink won player of the game plaudits for Bakersfield. He hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Cameron Frye, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 5 hits in 7.2 innings.

Alberink had a key at-bat for Bakersfield early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and gave Bakersfield an early 2-0 lead.
