Thundercats Squelch Athletic Club KC Offense in Shutout Win
|
Richardson City Thundercats starter Josef van der Poel turned in a top-notch performance against the Athletic Club KC at Athletics Park. The result was a win for the Thundercats, 3-0. van der Poel was the winning pitcher and moves to 4-4. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. Dave Reed locked down his 6th save.
In the top of the third inning, first baseman Seishiro Nishimura came through big-time for the Thundercats. With Richardson City leading 1-0, he belted a solo home run.
"We'll savor this win," Nishimura told the Richardson City Daily News, "then get ready for the next game."
The Thundercats now have a record of 26-17 with the win over Athletic Club KC.
