Nationals Best Herons in Pitching Duel

Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Glendale Herons home opener. José Ortíz started for the home team against António Fabián for the Ottawa Nationals. The Herons were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 2-0, Ottawa. José Ortíz was named player of the game. António Fabián got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 7.1 innings, giving up 9 hits and no runs, while striking out 3 and walking 4. Rafael Peralta finished to wrap up his 1st save.
Early in the game, second baseman Duane Wills had a 2-run home run for Ottawa. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Nationals on top, 2-0.
