Red Pandas Come Up Short at Scranton
|
The Scranton Supernovas beat the Sioux Falls Red Pandas, 9-4, at Nuclear Stadium. Scranton designated hitter Arturo Rochel earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Scranton starter Victor Brey was credited with the win after throwing 116 pitches over 6.2 innings. His record now stands at 7-10. Scranton, at 46-39, occupies 4th place in the Menard's AAA.
Rochel came through with some timely hitting for Scranton. With the score 2-1 in the bottom of the first and no one down, Rochel hit a 2-2 cutter for a 3-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season -- and a big reason the Supernovas managed to win.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Rochel said after the game.
