Brinkley withstood an impressive performance by Salt Lake City second baseman Roberto Soto to defeat the Buzz, 5-4, at Belugas Ballpark. Soto was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Brinkley reliever Jim Unknown picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Stephen Hollingsworth shouldered the loss. Today's win puts Brinkley at 41-43, while Salt Lake City falls to 49-35.

Also contributing to the win was catcher Natale Langushi, who stroked a 2-run single in the bottom of the fifth for Brinkley. For the game, Langushi went 1 for 2 with 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
