Naperville beat Port Royal at Ballpark of Port Royal, eking out a 7-2 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Eric Newell, who earned player of the game honors. Newell was the winning pitcher and moves to 4-1. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 1 and giving up 4 walks. With the win, Naperville goes to 40-43, while the Disaster fall to 42-41.
Naohiro Sakai helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a 2-run triple to give Naperville a 2-0 lead.
"I really like what we did out there today," Sakai said after the game.
