The Bloomington Longnecks got a magnificent performance from pitcher Giovanni Mireles, who muffled the Hamilton offense en route to a tight 2-1 Longnecks win at Lookouts Ballpark. Mireles was the winning pitcher and moves to 2-2. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 3 walks. Enrique López closed the door for Bloomington, picking up his 9th save of the year.
In the bottom of the 8th, right fielder Eugene Bentley gave Bloomington the lead when he hit a 2-run double. The Longnecks had been trailing 1-0, but the two-out double off Hamilton pitcher John Ashley changed that -- and Bloomington went on to win.
"We missed opportunities once again," said losing manager Manny Sánchez.
Hamilton now has a 5-game losing streak.
