The Port Royal Disaster knocked off the Hamilton Coyotes, 5-2, at Ballpark of Port Royal. Brandon Cooper, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Port Royal won. The designated hitter was 2 for 3 with 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs. Port Royal starter José Gutiérrez was credited with the win after throwing 83 pitches over 6.2 innings. His record now stands at 2-2. Ricardo Campos closed it out for his 2nd save.
Port Royal grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the sixth, when Cooper hit a run-scoring single. His 15th hit put the Disaster out in front, 3-2.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Port Royal manager Barry Embling.
After today's action, Port Royal sits at 39-38, while Hamilton falls to 28-49.
