Bloomington beat Brinkley on the strength of starter Giovanni Mireles's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 8-3 win. In 8.2 innings, Mireles surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 3 runs. Bloomington improves to 47-25 with the win. They lead their division by 4½ games.
Also having an impact was center fielder José Ruíz, who stroked a 2-run triple in the bottom of the third for Bloomington. For the game, Ruíz was 1-3 with a triple and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
