The Naperville Battlekings got a strong performance from pitcher Eric Newell, who stymied the Port Royal offense en route to a 4-2 win at Constellation Ballpark. Newell was the winning pitcher and moves to 2-1. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 5 walks. With the victory, the Battlekings record now stands at 26-35.

Naperville shortstop Naohiro Sakai helped the Battlekings go up, 3-1, in the bottom of the fifth inning. With the game tied, Sakai hit a 2-run single off Port Royal pitcher José Barajas.
