The Bloomington Longnecks grabbed a 6-3 win over the Brinkley Belugas at Belugas Ballpark. Bloomington center fielder José Ruíz was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 to earn player of the game honors. Enrique López earned the save for Bloomington, his 6th of the year. Bloomington is 34-16 and Brinkley, with the loss, 24-26.
Ruíz had a game-changing double in the top of the third. On a 0-2 fastball from Juan Montoya, he banged a run-scoring double to right, giving the Longnecks a 2-1 lead. It was the 14th double of the year for Ruíz.
"I really like what we did out there today," Ruíz said after the game.
