The Bloomington Longnecks beat the Scranton Supernovas, 5-2, at Lookouts Ballpark. The Longnecks got a fine performance from center fielder José Ruíz, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Bloomington reliever Enrique López was the winner. His record is now 2-3. The losing pitcher was Joaquín Rodríguez. Bloomington has now won 9 straight.
Ruíz had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 2-1 cutter from Joaquín Rodríguez, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Longnecks a 5-2 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Ruíz.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Ruíz said after the game.
