Battlekings Beat Supernovas, 4-2
|
The Naperville Battlekings did just enough to sneak past the Scranton Supernovas, 4-2, at Nuclear Stadium. Naperville pitcher Shuntavyious Primes-Willes earned player of the game honors. Sixto Palaeios got the save, the 1st for him this season. The 9th-place Battlekings are now 18-24, the Supernovas 23-19.
Tied up with the Supernovas in the top of the fourth, the Battlekings got a boost from catcher António Guzmán. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Guzmán saw a full count curveball from R.J. Anderson and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Naperville on top, 1-0.
"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Primes-Willes. "Successful pitchers do it."
