Longnecks Stay Hot with 7-5 Win
|
Bloomington withstood an impressive performance by Hamilton second baseman Héctor Rojas to defeat the Coyotes, 7-5, at Lookouts Ballpark. Rojas went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Jim Unknown was the winner. Over 8 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. Enrique López recorded the save for Bloomington, his 3rd of the season.
José Ruíz drove in one run for Bloomington. In the bottom of the second, with the teams deadlocked, 0-0, Ruíz delivered for the Longnecks. His run-scoring ground out put Bloomington on top, 1-0.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play ever better," said Bloomington manager Roberto Valverde.
Bloomington leads the Menard's AAA by 2½ games.
