Longnecks Continue Hot Start to Season with Win
|
Bloomington beat Hialeah at Dodos Ballpark, escaping with a 11-5 win. The win in large part was due to third baseman Fernando Rivera, who earned player of the game honors. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Jim Unknown earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed 5 earned runs on 9 hits, with 2 walks and 1 strikeout. The first-place Longnecks have won 4 in a row.
Silvio Bonauiti was a key contributor to the win for the Longnecks. In the top of the seventh with one out, the light-hitting right fielder stroked a double to left-center. He was 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Bloomington manager Roberto Valverde.
