Longnecks Need Extra Frames to Get Past Battlekings
|
The Naperville Battlekings got a superb performance from pitcher Dan Crowder, but the Longnecks still won the game, 8-4. Crowder was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. Bloomington reliever Enrique López was the winner. His record is now 1-3. The losing pitcher was Jorge Vázquez. Esteban Arroyo recorded the save for Bloomington, his 3rd of the season.
Bubba Blevins's hit in the top of the 11th was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a cutter from Jorge Vázquez for a run-scoring single. It put Bloomington in front, 5-4.
"Our team showed some gumption," said Blevins. "I like it."
Bloomington is 22-13 and Naperville, with the loss, 14-21.
