Big Day by Rivera Ignites Longnecks Win
|
The Bloomington Longnecks downed the Alaskan Humpbacks, 9-5, at Sea World. The Longnecks were led by Fernando Rivera, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Dustin Richmond closed the game out for Bloomington, earning his 1st save. At 21-12, Bloomington is in first place in the Menard's AAA.
Raúl Robles also delivered for the Longnecks. The veteran designated hitter belted a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth. The longball put Bloomington on top, 7-2. Overall, Robles was 2-5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Rivera, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
