Battlekings Suffer 5-2 Loss to Supernovas
|
Roberto Veliz did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Naperville Battlekings from losing, 5-2, to the Scranton Supernovas at Constellation Ballpark. Veliz went 2-4 with 2 home runs. Scranton reliever Salvador Tapia picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Shuntavyious Primes-Willes absorbed the loss. Pedro Garza finished to wrap up his 3rd save.
Tied up with the Battlekings in the top of the fourth, the Supernovas got a boost from shortstop José Cordero. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Cordero saw a 1-2 fastball from Shuntavyious Primes-Willes and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Scranton on top, 4-2.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Scranton Supernovas manager Henry Russell.
The Battlekings fall to 7-10 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2026 season.
