Flamingos Stick Republics with 6-4 Loss
The Las Vegas Flamingos defeated the New Amsterdam Republics, 6-4, at The Strip. Las Vegas right fielder Emílio Sáenz was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Joey McCarthy got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 4.1 innings. Las Vegas has 4 straight wins, New Amsterdam 3 straight losses.

Sáenz had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 2-1 curveball from Bobby Swain, he banged a 2-run home run to right-center, giving the Flamingos a 5-3 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Sáenz.

"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Las Vegas manager JJ Hoban.
