Alonso scores 3 runs, Flamingos Move to 21-14

Las Vegas and New Amsterdam duked it out at The Strip and the Flamingos came out victorious.
The Las Vegas Flamingos beat the New Amsterdam Republics, 5-1, at The Strip. Las Vegas left fielder José Alonso earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Cris Herrera, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 6 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 10. His record now stands at 5-2. Shunen Takahashi earned the save for Las Vegas, his 1st of the year.
The game turned with one out in the bottom of the fourth when Alonso, who is tied for 2nd in the 3L in hits with 45, hit a solo home run. It propelled the Flamingos into the lead, 2-1.
Alonso attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
The Flamingos sit in third place in the Division III with a record of 21-14.
