Piranhas Stay Hot, Beat Renaissance
|
Detroit got a terrific performance from shortstop Terumoto Kurihara, but it wasn't enough to beat the Panama City Piranhas. Panama City won the Detroit Field contest, 4-3. Kurihara was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Kirby Buckner got the win, improving to 3-2. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 2. The Piranhas, at 14-11, have now won 5 straight.
Sergio Muńóz helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a 3-run home run to give Panama City a 3-0 lead.
"I like the roll we're on," said Panama City manager Brian Kendall.
