Red Knights Clip Legion in Tight Contest
|
The Red Knights had to overcome a fine effort from Kingston Township pitcher Alfonso Miranda to grab a 5-3 win at Cloverdale Legion Park. Miranda went 7.2 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Capital District reliever Oswaldo Mobray picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Toshiro Saikawa took the loss. Miguel Toro earned the save for Capital District, his 1st.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the ninth inning. With one out, Danilo Mosca hit a full count fastball from Toshiro Saikawa for a 2-run single. It put Capital District in front, 5-3.
"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Mosca.
The win gives the Red Knights a record of 2-4.
